June seemed like the perfect time to visit South Dakota. Summer had just learned about Mount Rushmore and I'd never seen it before, so it seemed like a good idea. It also helped that a few of her classmates had been recently, so I had some tips from their parents.
We left Denver on Friday afternoon and hoped to get to South Dakota before bed time. Mapquest told me it would take about 5 hours, and I wouldn't be driving west (into the sunset) so I was expecting an easy go. Silly me - I forgot that it would take over 2 hours just to get through rush hour and out of Denver!
